A Tyde (tide) is one of the most fundamental and reliable phenomena in the world. Inspired by the forces of nature we are changing marine luxury. 

The old spelling for “tide”, “tyde”, is derived from the Old English word “tīd”, which was spelled with a “y” in the middle for centuries. This spelling persisted until the modern English spelling of “tide” became standardized in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Tyde management team comprises seasoned professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, gained from years of working in the mobility industry. With a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by marine mobility, our management team is dedicated to driving innovation and delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Dr. Christoph Ballin

Managing Director & Co-Founder
Christoph is the Co-founder and Managing Director at Tyde GmbH, with a background as a successful entrepreneur and co-founder of several companies, including Torqeedo GmbH, the global market leader for electric mobility in the boating industry. Christoph has also held managing director and corporate sales director roles at Gardena AG and worked as an engagement manager and senior associate at McKinsey & Company. He holds a PhD in marketing from Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg and graduated with honors in business management studies.

Tobias Hoffritz

Managing Director & Co-Founder
Tobias is the Co-founder and Managing Director at Tyde GmbH, with a background in design and engineering. He is a tech and innovation entrepreneur with a track record of working on advanced electric mobility projects on land, water, and air. Tobias has previously worked as an Innovation Manager at BMW AG, Creative Director for Automotive at Designworks, A BMW Group Company, Head of Design at Loremo AG, and Managing Director for Second-Sphere GmbH.
