Christoph is the Co-founder and Managing Director at Tyde GmbH, with a background as a successful entrepreneur and co-founder of several companies, including Torqeedo GmbH, the global market leader for electric mobility in the boating industry. Christoph has also held managing director and corporate sales director roles at Gardena AG and worked as an engagement manager and senior associate at McKinsey & Company. He holds a PhD in marketing from Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg and graduated with honors in business management studies.
Tobias is the Co-founder and Managing Director at Tyde GmbH, with a background in design and engineering. He is a tech and innovation entrepreneur with a track record of working on advanced electric mobility projects on land, water, and air. Tobias has previously worked as an Innovation Manager at BMW AG, Creative Director for Automotive at Designworks, A BMW Group Company, Head of Design at Loremo AG, and Managing Director for Second-Sphere GmbH.
Climate-friendly mobility on the water is progressing slower when compared to the dynamic developments seen in road mobility. Many segments of marine mobility are still operating 100% on fossil fuels. Utilizing hydrofoil technology, electric emission-free propulsion, and a selective approach to circular materials, we are dedicated to safeguarding the seas we travel.
Driven by a desire to spearhead electrified mobility, BMW partnered with Tyde to create an exceptional collaboration that gave birth to a groundbreaking yacht. Unprecedented in its design, technology, and purpose. Poised to revolutionize the luxury marine sector.
Designworks, a subsidiary of the BMW Group, held the reins in shaping The Icon's stunning design. With studios in Los Angeles, Munich, and Shanghai, they bring a wealth of industry expertise and international appeal, catering to the most discerning clients. Their portfolio is not just about aesthetics; it reflects a deep understanding of global customer preferences. Designworks has a track record of transforming innovation into stunning designs.
At the 76th Cannes International Film Festival, a particularly spectacular world premiere took place, not in the cinema hall, but in the harbor of this famous city, where Tyde and BMW presented The Icon, ushering in a new era in sustainable mobility on the water.

A Tyde (tide) is one of the most fundamental and reliable phenomena in the world. Inspired by the forces of nature we are changing marine luxury.
The old spelling for “tide”, “tyde”, is derived from the Old English word “tīd”, which was spelled with a “y” in the middle for centuries. This spelling persisted until the modern English spelling of “tide” became standardized in the 18th and 19th centuries.
