Dr. Christoph Ballin

Co-Founder & CEO

Christoph is the Co-founder and CEO at TYDE GmbH, with a background as a successful entrepreneur and co-founder of several companies, including Torqeedo GmbH, the global market leader for electric mobility in the boating industry. Christoph has also held managing director and corporate sales director roles at Gardena AG and worked as an engagement manager and senior associate at McKinsey & Company. He holds a PhD in marketing from Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg and graduated with honors in business management studies.

Protecting our habitat

 

Climate-friendly mobility on the water is progressing slower when compared to the dynamic developments seen in road mobility. Many segments of marine mobility are still operating 100% on fossil fuels. Utilizing hydrofoil technology, electric emission-free propulsion, and a selective approach to circular materials, we are dedicated to safeguarding the seas we travel.

World premiere at Cannes Film Festival

At the 76th Cannes International Film Festival, a particularly spectacular world premiere took place, not in the cinema hall, but in the harbor of this famous city, where TYDE and BMW presented The Icon, ushering in a new era in sustainable mobility on the water.

What is in a name

A Tyde (tide) is one of the most fundamental and reliable phenomena in the world. Inspired by the forces of nature we are changing marine luxury. 
The old spelling for “tide”, “tyde”, is derived from the Old English word “tīd”, which was spelled with a “y” in the middle for centuries. This spelling persisted until the modern English spelling of “tide” became standardized in the 18th and 19th centuries.
